Sheet Piling
Sheet piles — 16 m, total length 40 m. Walling beam and concrete coping beam (40 m x 10 m x …).
HTC is installing a 40 m run of marine sheet piling for Ali & Sons, using 16 m long sheet piles to form a durable retaining structure at the waterfront. Once the piles are driven to level, a steel walling beam and a reinforced concrete coping beam are constructed along the full length to tie the wall together and provide a finished edge. The works draw on HTC's long experience in foundation engineering and pile driving, with pile alignment and levels checked by survey throughout installation.
Piles are pitched and driven using HTC's own piling equipment, working from land and from the water as the site requires. Each pile is checked for position, verticality and toe level, and the walling and coping beams follow closely behind the piling front so that completed sections of the wall are secured as the works progress.
Project Goals
The aim of the project is to provide Ali & Sons with a robust, long-lasting retaining structure along the waterfront that protects the land behind it and supports safe use of the quayside.
- Install 16 m sheet piles along the full 40 m length of the wall.
- Construct the walling beam and concrete coping beam to the design levels.
- Keep pile alignment and verticality within the specified tolerances.
- Deliver the works safely with no lost-time incidents.
On completion, as-built surveys and quality records will be handed over to the client, together with the information needed for the long-term maintenance of the wall.
